More than 6 ½ hours ago the polls closed in Iran and counting began. Not clear why there has been no word from Interior ministry regarding the count. Last week the Guardian Council went head to head with the Interior ministry in a dispute over the process of announcing the results. Eventually the Council prevailed.

Head of Rouhani's campaign issued a statement saying celebrating his win in public spaces before official announcement, is against the law. Mohammad Shariatmadari added "such an event should be held in a specific space and needs proper authorization".
