With almost 39 million of votes counted and approved by the Guardian Council, Hassan Rouhani won almost 23 million of them. After almost 16 years since the landslide win of Mohammad Khatami, Rouhani will be the winner of this election with the highest number of votes in the history of the Islamic Republic. However, he didn't manage to secure as high percentage of the votes as Khatami. Eshagh Jahangiri, deputy president, while thanking the supporters, mentioned 24 million votes for Rouhani, which is yet to be announced.
