Turkish Media Publish Images In Case Of Saudi Journalist's Disappearance

A still image taken from CCTV video and obtained by TRT World appears to show Jamal Khashoggi as he arrives at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul on October 2.

Turkish media outlets have published images they say show evidence of a plot targeting a prominent Saudi journalist who Turkish officials fear was killed at the Saudi Consulate in Istanbul.

In its October 10 edition, the pro-government newspaper Sabah published the names and photographs of 15 Saudi nationals it said were part of an "assassination squad" sent to target Jamal Khashoggi.

Khashoggi, a critic of the Saudi monarchy, went missing on October 2 after visiting the Istanbul consulate to complete paperwork needed to marry his Turkish fiancee.

Turkish officials said they believed he was killed inside the consulate, which Saudi Arabia denies.

Sabah said the Saudi "assassination squad" arrived in the Turkish city on board two private jets the day Khashoggi went missing.

Meanwhile, state-run broadcaster TRT aired video purportedly showing the Saudis entering Turkey via the Istanbul airport, checking in at hotels and later leaving the country.

The video apparently shows the moment Khashoggi entered the consulate and the movements of the Saudi team suspected of involvement in his disappearance.

Earlier, Turkish security sources were quoted as saying that a group of 15 Saudi nationals arrived in Istanbul and entered the consulate the same day Khashoggi was there, and later left the country.
