A pro-reform member of the Iranian Parliament (Majles) has suggested Tehran should form a group of 100 politicians to strengthen Iran's lobbying efforts in other countries including the United States.

The official news agency of the Iranian Parliament (ICANA) has on Wednesday May 22 quoted Elias Hazrati, as having suggested that this lobby should be formed by the Foreign Ministry in collaboration with the Supreme National Security Council.

Social media activists have characterized the lobby suggested by Hazrati as a group to pave the way for negotiations with the United States. But it is not clear if Hazrati’s suggestion of forming a group for advocacy has the blessing of top leaders, such as Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

Hazrati who is the proprietor of reformist daily newspaper Etemad in Tehran says the lobby can prevent wars against Iran by countering the campaigns of anti-Iranian lobbies in major Western countering.

The politician suggests that the 100 strong lobby can hold talks with U.S. congressmen and congresswomen as well as with other U.S. or European journalists, political figures, intellectuals and industrialists.
