Iran has handed a protest note to the Swiss Embassy in Tehran about what it called "violation of Iranian airspace" by a US drone that was downed Thursday morning June 20.

IRGC-linked news agency Tasnim reported on Friday June 21 that Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi had summoned the Swiss ambassador in Tehran, representing the US Interest Section, to the Foreign Ministry late Thursday.

According to Tasnim, Araqchi told the Swiss Ambassador that "There are undeniable evidence to prove that the drone was in Iranian airspace" when it was hit by an Iranian missile.

He added that parts of the drone have been retrieved in the Iranian waters in the Persian Gulf.

US sources maintain that the drone was flying in international airspace when it was shot down by an IRGC missile.

Araqchi called on US forces to respect Iran's airspace as well as its land and sea borders, Tasnim reported.
