The Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier-General Amir Hatami speaking on the occasion of Defense Industries day on Sunday said the United Arab Emirates (UAE) will be responsible for any insecurity caused in if Israel finds its way to the Persian Gulf region with their help.
The UAE-Israel deal this week and the normalization of diplomatic relations between the two Muslim and Jewish states "is treason against the people of Palestine and the people of the region," Brigadier-General Hatami said and added: "There will be insecurity in the region if they drag Israel here and the responsibility for that will lie with those who created this insecurity. The evil will catch up with them".
The agreement, which U.S. President Donald Trump helped broker, makes the UAE the first Gulf Arab state to establish full diplomatic ties and only the third Arab nation to have active diplomatic ties to Israel.
Iran has harshly attacked the normalization of ties between Israel and the UAE announced on Thursday, calling it "shameful", "a dagger in the backs of the Palestinian people and all Muslims", and a “strategic stupidity”.
The decision by the UAE to normalize ties with the Jewish state undercuts Tehran’s campaign to rally Arab and Muslim countries against Israel.
Hatami who made an announcement of the Defense Ministry's achievements and plans also said Iran has helped Lebanon "during the resistance phase" and will help all those "who fight Israeli injustice".
"Given our good ability to produce arms we are prepared to meet Lebanon's arms requirements, but the choice lies with them," he declared.
Hatami also said a new Cruise missile will be unveiled on the Defense Industries Day and launching satellites using Simorgh, Zoljenah as well as Qassed space launch vehicles is on the ministry's agenda.
