Another large rally was held in central Yerevan on April 25 to demand that opposition leader Nikol Pashinian be made Armenia's interim prime minister ahead of snap elections. The country has been in political turmoil since mid-April, with street protests forcing the resignation of longtime ruler Serzh Sarkisian as prime minister on April 23. Following the latest rally, the speaker of parliament said lawmakers would vote for the country's next prime minister on May 1.
