An Israeli missile strike has caused a huge blast at a "military position" near Damascus international airport, Syrian state media report.
"A military position southwest of Damascus International Airport was targeted at dawn today by an Israeli aggression using several missiles fired from occupied territory, sparking explosions in the area," Syria's state SANA news agency reported on April 27, citing a military source.
A fuel tank and warehouses were damaged, SANA said.
The pro-government Al-Mayadeen TV network cited sources as saying that missiles had been fired by Israeli jets flying inside the Israeli-occupied Golan Heights.
Syrian rebel sources said the strike targeted an arms depot run by Lebanon's Hizballah movement, which is fighting in Syria as an ally of the government.
Israel said the blast was "consistent" with its policy to prevent Iran providing weapons to Hizballah, but it stopped short of confirming it was responsible.
Syria is in the sixth year of a civil war pitting the government of President Bashar al-Assad and his allies against opposition forces that has left more than 400,000 people dead.
Assad is backed by Russia, Iran and regional Shi'ite militias including Hizballah, which is a close ally of Tehran and an enemy of Israel.
Israel, which fought a war with Hizballah in 2006, is believed to have bombed Iranian arms consignments intended for the group several times since the Syrian conflict began.
