U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had separate telephone conversations with Britain’s foreign Secretary and the French foreign minister to discuss Iran, Syria and other issues.

The Deputy Spokesperson of the State Department, Robert Palladino announced that Pompeo spoke with Britain’s Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt o discuss countering Iranian malign behavior”, securing progress in Syria and “pursuing shared goal to denuclearize” The People’s Republic of Korea.

It seems that the U.S. is focusing on Iran’s behavior to foster more unity with European allies in putting pressure on Iran. Europeans disagree with Washington on annulling the 2015 nuclear deal with Iran, but they share the U.S. concern on restraining Iran’s ballistic missile program and its behavior in the Middle East and Europe.

Pompeo also spoke with France’s Foreign Minister Jean Yves Le Drian on the fight against the Islamic State group, especially in Iraq and Syria and Pompeo also noted “France’s efforts to counter Iran-backed terrorist activity in Europe and the Middle East”.

France, Holland and Denmark have become alarmed at signs that Iran might have had a role in organizing terror attacks against opponents of the Islamic Republic residing in Europe.

Iran rejects all accusations of interference in other countries and says the U.S. has always had “enmity” towards the Islamic Republic.
