One day after the United States designated Iran’s Revolution Guard (IRGC) as a terrorist organization, member of the Iranian parliament showed up for session wearing Guard's uniforms.

Iran’s semi-official Mehr news agency reported on April 9 that all members of parliament, including reformist leader Mohammad Reza Aref Speaker of Parliament Ali Larijani and outspoken MP Ali Motahari, as well as both reformist and conservative factions “wore Revolution Guard uniforms”.

The official government news outlet IRNA also quoted a reaction by Larijani saying the U.S. decision “reflects the extent of the vengefulness and ignorance of this regime”. He added that there is no one who does not know the role of IRGC in crushing dangerous terrorism in the region.

The Islamic Republic regards Sunni militants as terrorists, while labeling Hezbollah and other allies as freedom fighters.

The U.S. considers the IRGC as a tool of the Islamic Republic in supporting international terror groups.
