Live Blog: Iran's Parliament, Khomeini Shrine Attacked

Iranian media are reporting two separate shooting incidents at the Iranian parliament and the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Tehran.

-- An Iranian official says 12 people have been killed in twin attacks on the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's shrine. The head of Iran's emergency department, Pir Hossein Kolivand, said 39 people were also wounded in the attacks in Tehran, and rescue operations were continuing.

-- The extremist Sunni group Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the June 7 attacks in the capital of predominantly Shi'ite Iran, the IS-affiliated Amaq news agency said.

How did the attackers gain access to the parliament? Our Persian Service Radio Farda spoke with Ehsan Mehrabi, who was a parliamentary reporter in Iran and is well familiar with the parliament complex and its points of entrance. He says that the gunmen, approaching from the street opened fire at the entrance of the administrative building and as they managed to enter, there were basically inside. More here:
