Live Blog: Iran's Parliament, Khomeini Shrine Attacked

Iranian media are reporting two separate shooting incidents at the Iranian parliament and the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Tehran.

-- An Iranian official says 12 people have been killed in twin attacks on the Iranian parliament and Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini's shrine. The head of Iran's emergency department, Pir Hossein Kolivand, said 39 people were also wounded in the attacks in Tehran, and rescue operations were continuing.

-- The extremist Sunni group Islamic State (IS) claimed responsibility for the June 7 attacks in the capital of predominantly Shi'ite Iran, the IS-affiliated Amaq news agency said.

Iranian media are reporting two separate shooting incidents at the Iranian parliament and the shrine of Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini in Tehran.

An armed man opened fire at Khomeini's mausoleum in southern Tehran and wounded a number of people, the semiofficial Fars news agency reported.

Meanwhile, at least one gunman fired shots inside parliament, wounding a guard, news agencies said.

Tehran lawmaker Elyas Hazrati was quoted as saying there were three attackers equipped with two Kalashnikovs and a pistol.
