Iran -- Abbas Mousavi, the spokesman for Iran's Foreign Ministry, gives a press conference in the capital Tehran on May 28, 2019.

Iran says European countries have failed to fulfil their obligations in the nuclear deal with Tehran, also called the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).

The Iranian Foreign Ministry has on Friday June 7 reacted to French President Emmanuel Macron's remarks that were made on Thursday during a meeting with U.S. President Donald Trump.

Macron said U.S. and France follow the same objectives regarding Iran, adding that they want to make sure Iran will not have access to nuclear weapons, its ballistic activity is reduced and its regional ambitions are controlled so that peace could be restored in the region.

Iranian Foreign Ministry's Spokesman Abbas Mousavi said on Friday: "Putting forward subjects other than the JCPOA will not help protecting the deal, but will create further distrust among the remaining parties to the JCPOA."

The official news agency IRNA quoted Mousavi as having accused Europeans of helping the United States to reach its goal of destroying the JCPOA.
