The deputy commander of Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps has told reporters that “our goal is to eradicate Israel from the world’s political map”, according to Tasnim news agency.

Brigadier General Hossein Salami on Monday in response to Israeli threats to continue attacks on Iranian targets in Syria said, “Our strategy is to wipe Israel off the political map of the world and it seems with its own mischief, Israel is getting closer to this outcome”.

Salami also issued a threat that if Israel takes a step leading to a new war, “certainly this would be the war, which leads to its eradication and the occupied territories will be taken back and the Israelis will not even have a cemetery in Palestine to bury their dead.”

Iran’s foreign minister Mohammad Javad Zarif in an interview in December insisted, “When did we say we want to annihilate Israel? Find one person that has said so. Nobody has said that”.
