Two years ago, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, 38, was on a trip to Iran with her toddler, Gabriella, to celebrate the Iranian New year, Norouz. On her way back home to the UK in 2016, she was arrested at the airport in Tehran. She is currently serving a six-year sentence in Tehran’s notorious Evin Prison for “undermining the regime.”
On May 21st her husband Richard Ratcliffe who has been campaigning for her release learned that she will be facing new charges of "spreading propaganda" against the regime."
Radio Farda journalist Hannah Kaviani spoke to Richard Ratcliffe on the 800 day anniversary of her imprisonment.
[Hannah Kaviani] Why wasn't your wife, Nazanin Ratcliffe, let out for her birthday as previously promised?
[Hannah Kaviani]Was your daughter, Gabriela, able to see her mother in prison for her birthday?
[Hannah Kaviani]It has been 800 days since Nazanin was imprisoned. Your daughter just turned 4, and you have not been able to see her, either. How do you feel about that?
[Hannah Kaviani] What is the date of the trial?
[Hannah Kaviani] You wrote on your website about the situation with the lawyer. Can you elaborate on that?
[Hannah Kaviani] Do you think she will be able to defend herself?
[Hannah Kaviani]In what state is Nazanin mentally and physically?
