Destructive Floods Hit Northern Iran - Images

The Floods might be subsiding, but the political fallout from a slow response by the government has not. It took two days for any meaningful action to the disaster, while President Hassan Rouhani was in the sunny Persian Gulf.

New torrential rains hit Iran's west, southwest, south and even the center of the country on March 25. At least 18 people were killed in Shiraz in a matter of minutes. Water began poring over a dam in central Iran. This is historic by recorded standards in Iran, which was suffering from a long drought.

Iran is more than 1.6 million square km and it seems a big part of that expanse is not immune to a large weather front bringing rain.
